The Neighbourhoods
Walthamstow Village is the historic heart of the area, defined by centuries of heritage from the 12th-century St Mary's Church to the timber-framed Ancient House. At its core lies Orford Road, a charming, pedestrian-friendly high street lined with colourful independent shops, vibrant outdoor dining, cafés, and pubs. Ravenswood Industrial Estate is an eclectic pocket of Walthamstow made up of a thriving community of independent makers and creators. The area brings together local craft breweries, a specialist cider maker, a gin distillery, print designers, fitness spaces, and the iconic neon wonderland of God’s Own Junkyard. Dedicated to making and manufacturing during the week, the estate opens its doors every Friday for food, drinks, parties, and weekend fun.
Long before Hollywood, Wood Street housed the world’s first film studios, and that creative spirit lives on today through colourful murals by Wood Street Walls. Its high street and famous Wood Street Indoor Market are packed with independent shops, vintage treasures, antiques, and global eateries serving everything from local pastries to Palestinian and Caribbean flavours.
